With its second-straight loss, the California University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team falls to 10-5 overall and 2-5 in league play. Meanwhile, Gannon moves to 6-8-2 this year with a 3-3 mark in divisional action. The Golden Knights now have a three-point lead on the Vulcans for third place in the PSAC West standings with less than two weeks left in the regular season.

The two teams combined for 16 shots in the first half with neither team being able to break the scoreless tie in the first half. Gannon managed to tally its first goal in the 66th minute when senior Dan Howell scored off an assist from junior Afrim Latifi. The Golden Knights expanded their lead to 2-0 less than 10 minutes later when Howell scored his second goal of the game and ninth of the season. Freshman Adam Sharbaugh added a late insurance goal in the final minute of the game off a pass from junior Evan Chate.

Junior goalkeepers Derek Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) and Charlie Dagnal (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton) combined to make five saves with Dagnal suffering the loss after allowing the first two goals.
