INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 9) – The California University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team received an at-large bid to its first-ever NCAA Division II Championships, announced the NCAA Women’s Soccer Committee on a webstream on NCAA.com on Monday night.

The Vulcans will face West Virginia Wesleyan in a first-round game on Friday, Nov. 13, in Kutztown, Pa. The game will start at 1 p.m. The host Golden Bears earned an opening-round bye and will host the winner of the first-round game on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Under third-year head coach Al Alvine, Cal U established a program record with 16 wins, earned its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West title and made its first-ever appearance in the PSAC Tournament.

The Bobcats earned an automatic qualifier to the 48-team NCAA Tournament after winning the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Tournament. West Virginia Wesleyan posted a 12-6-1 record this year en route to capturing its third-straight WVIAC Tournament.

The PSAC features five of the six teams in the Atlantic Regional bracket of the NCAA Tournament. PSAC-champion West Chester is the top seed in the region and will face the winner of the opening-round game between Gannon and IUP.
