Final AFCA Rankings (.pdf)

WACO, Texas (Dec. 14) – For the third-consecutive year, the Vulcans finished the season ranked in the Top 10 of the final American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll . After appearing in a third-straight NCAA Semifinal, the California University of Pennsylvania football team moved up 15 spots to earn a No. 7 ranking in the final poll.

The Vulcans continued the most successful era in program history with an 11-4 overall record after claiming their fifth-straight (third-outright) Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West title and a third-consecutive NCAA Super Regional One crown. Over the last three years, Cal U has compiled an overall record of 36-7 with three of the losses against eventual National Champions.

Cal U played seven games against AFCA Top 25 teams in the 2009 season with post-season wins over then-No. 15 Shippensburg and No. 9 West Liberty. The Vulcans are the top ranked team from Super Region One after entering the post-season as the third seed in the four-conference region.

The Vulcans, who made the largest move up in the national poll, are also one of three PSAC teams to finish the season in the AFCA Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

Under eighth-year head coach John Luckhardt, Cal U opened the season ranked No. 8 in the preseason poll and were ranked in seven of the AFCA polls this year after battling back from a 0-2 start to the season.
