KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Dec. 9) – Following the best season in program history highlighted by a trip to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals, the California University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team received three selections to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Atlantic Region teams, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Senior forward Amanda Heister (Palmyra, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and junior forward Sam Regney (Monaca, Pa./Monaca) led the way with first-team selections, while sophomore defender Kayla Klimasko (Mississauga, Ontario/Woodlands Secondary) earned second-team honors.

This season marks the second-straight year in which the Vulcans have had multiple selections on a NSCAA all-region team, a feat not accomplished since 1994-97.

Heister finished her career as the program’s all-time leader with 44 goals and 107 points. A four-year starter, she led the team and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with 42 points and 19 goals this season. Heister was a two-time NSCAA all-region and four-time All-PSAC West selection in her career.

Regney received first-team all-region honors after ranking second on the team with nine goals and third on the squad with eight assists. The junior forward ranked among the league leaders in each of the three major offensive categories. Regney has started 42 games over the last two seasons.

Klimasko earned NSCAA all-region laurels for a consecutive year after garnering third-team status as a freshman. One of only two players to start all 26 games this season, she helped anchor a defense that allowed only 0.68 goals per game and registered 14 shutouts. Klimasko also collected her first career assist in 2009.

With their selection to the first team, both Heister and Regney are eligible to receive All-America honors from the NSCAA.
