Junior outfielder Kayleigh Braim posted a career-best .347 average this year.
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (May 13) – California University of Pennsylvania junior outfielder Kayleigh Braim (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) and freshman designated player/catcher Alyson Johnson (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) were each selected to the Daktronics All-Atlantic First Team on Wednesday in a vote of the regions Sports Information Directors.

Braim earned Daktronics laurels for a second-straight season after hitting .347 (52-for-150) with 10 doubles, three triples, 20 RBI and 35 runs scored this year. She led the team with 16 multi-hit games and started all 45 games in left field while also serving as the team’s leadoff hitter. The three-year starter finished with a .396 on-base percentage in 2009 and received All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Second-Team honors last week.

Johnson, the PSAC West Rookie of the Year, ranked among the conference leaders with 13 homers, 41 RBI, 98 total bases and a .681 slugging percentage. In addition to her power numbers, she finished the year hitting at a .347 clip (50-for-144) with nine doubles and 28 runs scored. The former Waynesburg Central standout tied for the team lead with 10 multi-RBI games, including a single-game school record eight against Salem International.

With their first-team selections, Braim and Johnson are now eligible for Daktronics All-America honors.

Sophomore pitcher Maria Greco (Pickering, Ontario/Notre Dame Catholic), the PSAC West Pitcher of the Year, garnered second-team all-region accolades from Daktronics. Greco established herself as one of the top pitchers in the region after posting a 15-6 record and 1.63 ERA in 24 appearances (20 starts). While in the circle, she registered 147 strikeouts and issued only 21 walks in 137.2 innings pitched. The sophomore right-hander limited opponents to a team-best .194 average (101-for-520) and tossed 12 complete games.
