Cal U places second at Penn State Behrend

Results

ERIE (Sept. 19) – Behind four top-15 individual finishes, the California University of Pennsylvania men's cross country team posted a second-place team finish at the 15-team Penn State Behrend Invitational on Saturday.

The Vulcans totaled 52 points and trailed only Mount Union (25), who featured the individual champion, in the team standings. Host Penn State Behrend finished third with 101 points, while Thiel (114) and Westminster (Pa.) (154) rounded out the top five.

Graduate student Eric Reger (Manor, Pa./Hempfield), who earned his first individual title last week, finished second overall at PSU Behrend with a time of 26 minutes, 18 seconds. Freshman Chris Werner (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) and junior Tony Russo (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) both crossed the finish line in 26:33 to finish fifth and sixth, respectively.

Sophomore Tim Lahmers (Delmont, Pa./Franklin Regional) posted a time of 27:12 and finished 11th overall, while freshman Aaron Roe (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) completed the Cal U scorers with a time of 28:44. Fellow freshman Gavin Volosky (Dubois, Pa./Dubois) finished the race in 29:45.

All six of the Vulcan runners set personal records at the 8K event.

Cal U continues its season on Saturday, Sept. 26, when it travels to Latrobe, Pa., for the Saint Vincent Invitational.
