LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 26) – The Vulcans competed as individuals and featured three top-10 finishers on Saturday at the Saint Vincent Invitational, led by a third-place overall finish by graduate student
Eric Reger (Manor, Pa./Hempfield).
Reger placed third overall in the 130-runner field with a time of 26 minutes, 35 seconds. Freshman
Chris Werner (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) crossed the finish line only two seconds behind Reger at 26:37 for a fourth-place finish.
Junior
Tony Russo (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) rounded out the Vulcan top-10 trio, placing seventh with a time of 26:49. Sophomore
Tim Lahmers (Delmont, Pa./Franklin Regional) finished the race 18th overall in 27:24.
The California University of Pennsylvania men's cross country program competed only as individuals at the 13-team event. Host Saint Vincent won the event with 36 points, while Grove City (60) and Hagerstown (40) finished second and third, respectively. Junior Garett Cichowitz of Grove City won the individual title with a time of 26:03.
The Vulcans are idle this weekend before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, when they compete at the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside.
