LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Feb. 2) – After winning two events over the weekend, California University of Pennsylvania junior
Brice Myers (Pittsburgh, Pa./McDowell) was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
An All-American last year, Myers posted a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at the Al Hall Freedom Games in Edinboro with a time of 8.21 seconds. His blistering time provisionally qualifies him for 2010 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Myers' time also ranks second in the conference and 13th in the nation.
In addition to his victory in the hurdles, the former McDowell standout also won the triple jump with a distance of 12.54 meters (41-1 3/4 feet) in his first appearance in the event this season.
Last winter, Myers was selected the PSAC Indoor Athlete of the Year after finishing third in the country in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships with a time of 8.12 seconds. He also placed second in the 55-meter hurdles at the PSAC Championships by only five thousandths of a second.
