Georgia Emert (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) broke her own school record in the 200 IM on Wednesday in the first day of the 2010 NCAA Swimming National Championships at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.
Gates became the sixth different swimmer in school history to earn individual NCAA All-American honors, as she finished fourth overall in the finals of the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.32 seconds. In the preliminaries of the event, Gates posted a time of 23.50 seconds to place fifth overall in a field of 62 swimmers. Last season, the Lancaster native earned All-America Honorable Mention in the 50 freestyle after placing 11th in the finals.
Emert finished with a time of 2 minutes, 9.48 seconds in the 200 IM, eclipsing her previous school record set last month at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships by 49 hundredths of a second (2:09.97).
