KUTZTOWN, Pa. (May 16) – For his performance over the weekend in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament, California University of Pennsylvania junior first baseman
Adam Links (New Hope, Pa./Central Bucks East) was named to the all-tournament team on Sunday following the conclusion of the four-day event.
In four games at the tournament, Links led the team with a .429 batting average (6-for-14) and finished with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored. He helped lead the Vulcans to a 2-2 record over the weekend, marking the program's first wins in the NCAA Tournament since the 1979 season.
A three-year starter, Links posted at least one hit in every game and collected a RBI in each of the first three games. In the 4-3 victory against host and No. 12 Kutztown on Thursday, he drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first. The following day, the former Central Bucks East standout collected two of the team's five hits, including a RBI double, in a 7-2 loss against West Virginia State.
Facing elimination on Saturday afternoon, Links reached base three times (two walks, one single) and drove in the eventual-game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth in a 6-5 victory against Seton Hill. Later that day, the 5-10 first baseman collected a double and single in the 7-2 elimination loss to No. 16 West Chester.
