Randy Sturgill (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg) was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Pitcher of the Year and head coach
Mike Conte earned PSAC West Coach of the Year honors on Tuesday, as the league announced the All-PSAC Western Division Teams.
Sturgill is the first pitcher for the Vulcans to receive the honor since its inceptions in 2006. He anchored the pitching staff this year with an 8-1 record and 3.18 ERA in 70.2 innings of work. The 6-1 left-hander leads the conference with a career-high 86 strikeouts and 11 starts. After pitching only 1.0 inning last year due to injury, Sturgill has tossed six compete games and boasts a 3.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio this season.
Conte earned PSAC West Coach of the Year accolades for the sixth time in his career after leading the Vulcans to a 32-16 record and their first PSAC Championships since 2004. Under his direction, Cal U has posted 30-win seasons six times in the last seven years and will make its second appearance in the NCAA Tournament after securing the league's automatic qualifier.

Kyle Petty (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) were All-PSAC West Second-Team selections.
DiMatteo continued to assert himself as one of the most dynamic offensive players in school and PSAC history this season. He leads the team and is fourth in the league with a .407 batting average (68-for-167), while also ranking among the conference leaders with 11 homers, 51 RBI and a school-record 42 steals. An All-American last season, DiMatteo has collected a league-leading 25 doubles this year and boasts a .483 on-base percentage. Entering the NCAA Tournament, he has already set the all-time school records for hits, runs scored, steals and at-bats.
Handza has established himself as one of the premier outfielders in the conference in 2010. He ranks fourth in the league this season with a single-season school record 60 RBI. The 6-3 outfielder also is among the league leaders with a .404 average (67-for-166), 10 homers, 32 stolen bases and .711 slugging percentage. In addition to receiving All-PSAC West honors, Handza was recognized as the PSAC West Hitter of the Week three times during the regular season.
Links earned All-PSAC West Second-Team laurels for the second-straight season after hitting at a .331 clip (53-for-160) with 11 doubles, three homers and 34 RBI. The Vulcans' regular clean-up hitter, he has collected 16 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games this year.
One of the most versatile players on Vulcans, Petty received All-PSAC West accolades for his effort as a pitcher. The 6-4 right-hander posted a 1-2 mark and three saves with a 4.84 ERA in 12 appearances (two starts) on the mound. He also registered an incredible 29 strikeouts in only 22.1 innings of work. In conference play this year, Petty collected two saves in four appearances and boasted an impressive 1.69 ERA.
