First-Round Preview: Slippery Rock boasts a 15-3-6 all-time record against Edinboro. The two teams battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Edinboro during the regular season on Oct. 20.

Rankings: Cal U enters the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 16 in the latest NSCAA Division II poll and as the top seed in the NCAA Atlantic Region rankings. Edinboro moved into the national poll at No. 24 and rank fourth in the regional rankings. Slippery Rock is receiving votes in the NSCAA Top 25 poll and is seeded fifth in the NCAA regional rankings.

PSAC Tournament: The Vulcans were the top seed in last week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament and defeated the eighth-seeded IUP in the quarterfinals, 1-0. Cal U then earned a 2-1 victory over fourth seeded Edinboro in the semifinals before losing 3-0 to seventh-seeded Slippery Rock in the championship game.

Cal U in the NCAA Tournament: The Vulcans are making its fourth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, advancing to the quarterfinals in 2009 and 2011. Cal U holds a 5-2-2 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament, including a 1-0-1 mark against Slippery Rock.

Edinboro in the NCAA Tournament: The Fighting Scots made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history last year, falling 2-0 to West Chester in the first round.

Slippery Rock in the NCAA Tournament: The Rock is making its third-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Slippery Rock advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament last year for the first time in school history, falling 2-0 against Cal U in Albany, N.Y.

Scouting the Vulcans: Coming off a 3-0 loss to Slippery Rock in the PSAC Tournament Championship, Cal U enters the NCAA Tournament with a 16-4-1 overall record behind an 11-1 mark at home.

Cal U has out-scored its opponents 48-18 and recorded 42 assists. The Vulcans have out-shot their opponents 398-197, averaging 19 attempts per game. Sophomore Haley Henderson (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton) leads the team with 11 goals and freshman Janelle McCann (Burlington, Vt./Tilton School) has added seven goals. Sophomore Chelsea Crockett has recorded six goals and junior Kelsey Russo (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) has posted four goals to go along with six assists. Sophomore Erin Hogan (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) tallied four goals while tying the single-season school record with 14 assists.

Sophomore Ashley Magruda (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) has started 20 games this year and posted a 15-4-1 overall record with eight shutouts. She has made 75 saves and posted a .815 save percentage in nearly 1900 minutes of action.

Scouting the Fighting Scots: Edinboro enters the NCAA Tournament with a 13-4-2 overall record after falling 2-1 in the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament last week.

The Fighting Scots have out-scored (40-17) and outshot (302-205) their opponents this season. Sophomore Liz Debo paces the Edinboro offense with a team-high 14 goals and senior Karisa Fernandez is second on the team with 10 goals. Freshman Jansen Hartmann has tallied five goals and is tied with senior Jenna Madison for the team lead with five assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Meghan Kelly has posted 94 saves and recorded six shutouts while playing nearly 1,700 minutes.
Edinboro Stats

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock enters the NCAA Tournament after earning its third conference title in program last week with a 3-0 win over Cal U in the PSAC Championship Game. The Rock is 13-5-2 overall and 6-3-2 on the road this season.

Slippery Rock has out-scored its opposition by a 43-18 margin and is averaging 2.15 goals per game. The Rock has tallied 36 assists and outshot their opponents 268-187. Sophomore Lucy Hannon leads the team with 10 goals and nine assists. Hannon was named the PSAC Tournament MVP after posting two goals and three assists in the final two rounds of the league tournament. Senior Shelby Ward has tallied nine goals and junior Steph Buckenheimer has added three goals and four assists.

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Dana O'Neill has posted 71 saves and nine shutouts while starting all 20 games.
