CALIFORNIA (April 26) – Former California University of Pennsylvania standouts
Terrence Johnson (Braddock, Pa./Woodland Hills) and
Willie Walker (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) recently signed as undrafted free agents with the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns, respectively.
Johnson and Walker, both four-year starters, were All-American players for the Vulcans and key players on three-straight NCAA Semifinal and ECAC Lambert Trophy teams.
Johnson finished his career as one of the most decorated defensive players in program history. He finished his career with 178 tackles (133 solo) and recorded 16 interceptions while starting at cornerback (2006-10). The Woodland Hills product led the team in interceptions in each of his years with the program.
Also a skilled player on special teams, Johnson was selected an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Associated Press (AP) All-American last season and was a two-time Daktronics All-American during his career. He was a All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West First-Team selection in each of his final three seasons while facing some of the top wide receivers in the nation.
Walker was a regular juggernaut on the Cal U defensive front throughout his career, as evident by his all-time school record of 31.5 tackles for loss (TFL). He totaled 180 tackles (97 solo) and 14.5 sacks throughout his time with the program. Walker was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 and received All-America laurels from the AP and
Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
This marks the third-straight season in which a Cal U standout has signed with a NFL team as an undrafted free agent. In 2008, linebacker
Gary Butler worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles, while quarterback
Kevin McCabe was an undrafted free agent signee by the Pittsburgh Steelers following last year's NFL Draft.
