Vulcans feature 15 NFL teams at Pro Day

CALIFORNIA (March 20) – The California University of Pennsylvania football program welcomed representatives from nearly half of the NFL to Adamson Stadium on Thursday morning, as over two dozen players from various Pennsylvania schools participated in Pro Day.

The Vulcans had 11 players participate in their annual Pro Day: wide receiver Nadir Brown (East Orange, N.J./East Orange), defensive back Ja'wan Bryant (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport), linebacker Maurice Dickson (Hillside, N.J./Hillside), wide receiver CJ Goodwin (Wheeling, W.Va./Linsly), linebacker Darnell Harding (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport), wide receiver Trey Johnson (Rochester, Pa./Rochester), defensive back Dewey McDonald (Ranson, W.Va./Jefferson), linebacker BJ Stevens (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), defensive lineman Noah Taylor (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills), defensive back CJ Townes (Joppatowne, Md./Joppatowne) and wide receiver Mike Williams (Hershey, Pa./Milton Hershey).

Cal U also welcomed over a dozen additional players, ranging from NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to NCAA Division III programs, from across Pennsylvania to run a preliminary 40-yard dash at Adamson Stadium on Thursday. Former Cal U running back Edwin Gowins (2011) and offensive lineman Michael Page (2010-11), who finished his collegiate career at Winston-Salem State in 2012, were among the others players to participate in the 40-yard dash. Former Robert Morris offensive lineman A.J. Dalton was selected by the scouts to continue to participate in the various Pro Day drills.

The players were tested in a variety of drills conducted at the NFL Combine, such as the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and three-cone drill, and also participated in position work.

The following teams attended Pro Day at Adamson Stadium: Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 2014 NFL Draft will be held at Radio City Music Hall in New York, N.Y., on May 8-10 and will broadcast live on a variety of ESPN outlets and the NFL Network. Over the last four years, four players from the PSAC have been selected in the NFL Draft with former Cal U offensive lineman Eric Kush being selected in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draf by the Kansas City Chiefs.
