CALIFORNIA (Dec. 22) – California University of Pennsylvania officials announced today that Mike Kellar has resigned as head football coach following 10 years on staff with the program. Kellar has accepted the position of head coach at Lenoir-Rhyne, which is a NCAA Division II program in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).
Kellar posted a 31-12 overall record as head coach of the Vulcans over the past four years after spending the 2011 season as the Associate Head Coach for Offense. He previously served as offensive coordinator at Cal U from 2004-08 before leaving to become the head coach at Concord for two years from 2009-10.
"We received notice of Coach [Mike] Kellar's resignation and certainly wish him the best as he continues in his coaching career at Lenoir Rhyne," said Cal U Athletic Director
Dr. Karen Hjerpe.
As head coach at Cal U, Kellar led the program to at least seven wins in each of his four seasons. The Vulcans posted a 20-9 record in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play with Kellar as head coach and boasted 43 All-PSAC West selections (28 first-team) during his tenure, highlighted by both a PSAC West Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year.
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
