CALIFORNIA (April 5) – The California University of Pennsylvania tennis program recently volunteered at the California United Methodist Church by helping pack bags of food for hungry children in Washington County.
California United Methodist Church, which is located just a half mile from campus, teamed with the Greater Washington County Food Bank to help distribute food to children that go hungry over the weekends, including those in the California Area School District.
"This was definitely a wake-up call for our players and me, as sometimes we don't realize all the comfort we have in our lives," said head coach
Pablo Montana. "It was a privilege serving the community and knowing that a hungry child will be fed over a weekend."
Each year, the Cal U tennis team strives to make an impact in the surrounding communities by volunteering at various senior centers, food banks and local charity events.
